The case for drug abuse

If you're a competitive athlete, the argument in favor of using steroids is pretty clear. With your physique improved through the wonders of chemistry, you can have more fun, be more popular, improve your team's performance-- and, if you're a pro, make a lot more money.

Still, you shouldn't use steroids, for two reasons. First, they're dangerous. It's a big mistake to fool around with your hormonal system; Mother Nature has a way of catching up with cheaters. Second, when you're using artificial means, you're making a mockery of athletic competition.

Try making these arguments at any ordinary social gathering, and you'll meet with general agreement and approval. Steroid use is a Bad Thing; the editorial writers agree.

Now do you want to push the envelope? Make exactly the same argument, in slightly altered form. Like this:
