Cardinal Burke's 'unhelpful' suggestion

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | Jul 28, 2016

In his interview-book Hope for the World, Cardinal Raymond Burke makes the (accurate) observation that Islam envisions a state governed by Islamic law. “In reality, there is no place for other religions, even though they maybe tolerated,” he says.

This does not sit well with some Catholics. Dublin’s Archbishop Diarmuid Martin tells the National Catholic Reporter: “I don’t think that helps at all.” The paper adds:

A spokesman for the Association of Catholic Priests in Ireland, which represents over 1,000 Irish clerics, warned that the cardinal's comments "will be interpreted as dangerously provocative in the light of the gruesome death of 84-year-old Fr. Jacques Hamel."

Oh, right. Before publishing the book, Cardinal Burke should have placed a phone call to the leaders of the Islamic State, and asked them: “Do any of you folks plan to murder an elderly priest during Mass in the near future? Because if you do, I’ll be sure to avoid any suggestion that you’re dangerous.”

Cardinal Burke gives me hope in a dark and troubled world, as he is proof that at least some of our Catholic leaders still speak the truth; and the truth is not always rosy. God bless him and grant him a long life so that he can continue to represent Christ in this world through his fearless teaching.

Where do I check "like" to this post? Cardinal Burke is one of the bravest, most faithful followers of Christ in the Catholic Church. Keep on keeping us on the right track, Cardinal Burke!!

And why is it not "provocative" to decapitate a priest while he is celebrating Mass? Or decapitate or crucify or blow up or shoot or mow down with a truck or otherwise kill and abuse anyone else? Archbishop Martin should be ashamed of himself.

God bless Cardinal Burke for helping 'all' people know the God/Man:Jesus. "Muslim nations are very special because they have a command from Allah to rule the entire world... The goal of Islam is to rule the entire world and submit all of mankind to the faith of Islam.... get in the way of that goal, Islam will fight and destroy... Islam can use every power available every way it can be used to bring worldwide revolution. This is jihad." (Muslim scholar Mawlana Sayid Abul Ala Mawdudi, 1903-1979)

As usual Cardinal Burke is 100% correct. We need more men like Cardinal Burke to open their mouths and speak truth in the face of evil.
