about that 'pedophilia' crisis...

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | Mar 31, 2014

Yet again an accounting of sex-abuse charges against American Catholic priests shows that 80% of the reported victims were male, with the largest number of victims coming from the 10-14 age group. What do you call a man who makes adolescent boys the object of his lust?

To control the language is to control the debate, and for a decade we’ve been reading about the scandal caused by “pedophile” priests. A few genuine pedophiles have been captured and convicted, it’s true; but they represent a small minority of those involved in the scandal. Psychologists tell us that true pedophiles prey on little boys and girls indiscriminately. The 80% figure suggests strongly of discrimination. And a 10-14 boy, while still a child, is no longer a little child.

The term we are looking for is spelled H O M O S E X U A L. The bishop's researchers at John Jay College could not manage to find the term in their diagnostic lexicon, and, evidently, many bishops were happy they didn't.
