TRANSLATION

The solemn transporting of the relics of a saint from one shrine to another, where they have a final resting place. The former liturgical feast of the Holy House of Loreto was also called a translation. And the same term is applied to transferring a feast to another date, as when it falls on a Sunday, or a cleric is said to be transferred from one ecclesiastical office to another.
