CONSTITUTION, CONCILIAR
A document issued by an ecumenical council and approved by the Pope, containing the positive doctrine of the Church, as distinct from the canons that formally condemn contrary teaching. Among the documents of the Second Vatican Council, the constitutions are either unqualified, on the liturgy; or dogmatic, on the Church and Divine Revelation; or pastoral, on the Church in the modern world.
