AFFILIATION
In ecclesiastical law, the association of a smaller or lesser group or society with a larger or greater one. All affiliation must be approved by the proper Church authority and, in the case of religious institutions, by the Holy See. (Etym. Latin filiatio, filial relationship, sonship, filiation.)
