What Is OneCause?
OneCause is an online program which enables registered users to direct a percentage of their shopping dollars to the charity of their choice—over $200 million since 1999. We hope you'll register and choose CatholicCulture.org as your cause.
What Are the Benefits for CatholicCulture.org?
You can shop for almost anything through the OneCause website or the OneCause toolbar (see below). Each participating merchant advertises the percentage of your transaction that they will donate to your selected cause. This could be anywhere from one percent to twenty percent. In addition, searches you perform using the OneCause toolbar (through Yahoo!) will earn two cents each for your selected cause.
Why Should I Use the OneCause Toolbar?
If you download the OneCause toolbar, which will install into your web browser, it will benefit us in two important ways. First, it enables you to shop easily through OneCause without having to remember to go to the web site before shopping. That's a real help. Second, it will also enable you to do the Yahoo! searches from which we will earn two cents each. Two cents doesn't sound like much, but if thousands of our supporters would use this toolbar for searching, it would make a huge difference.
What Are the Benefits for Me?
Once you register on OneCause and select your cause, you can receive regular emails alerting you to specials offered by the various merchants. This means good deals for you, and donations for us.
What about the OneCause Credit Card?
You'll see on the OneCause web site that you can apply for a OneCause credit card. If you do, one percent of your purchases anywhere using that card will be donated to your cause. However, because it is not possible to customize the OneCause credit card to represent the organization you wish to support, CatholicCulture.org prefers to offer a customized CatholicCulture.org card through CapitalOne which provides similar benefits with a Catholic flair.
I'd Love to Help. How Do I Get Started?
Just follow these easy steps:
- Go to the OneCause website and click the JOIN button in the upper right hand corner.
- Complete the registration process.
- Select CatholicCulture.org as your cause. (You can select Causes or Schools. Click the Causes tab on the top menu and use the form to search for CatholicCulture.org. It will appear in the search results. Click on its name or image to view the CatholicCulture.org profile. On the profile page, click the "Support This Cause" button to make CatholicCulture.org your cause.)
- Download—and use!—the OneCause toolbar. Note that during the installation, you'll want to be careful about which boxes are checked if you do NOT want the OneCause toolbar to serve as your DEFAULT search engine. (It's good for us to make it the default, but if you like to use different search engines for different things, it may not be what you want.)
OneCause Notes
If you track your own transactions on OneCause, please be patient, as transactions may take up to 60 days to appear. There are other OneCause opportunities too. For example, you can place a link to your cause's profile on your own web site, and you can use OneCause tools to invite friends and family to support your cause. In addition, please note that you can register any of your credit or debit cards on OneCause so that a percentage of your purchases will be donated to your cause when you are physically shopping in neighborhood stores. At present, however, there do not seem to be many participating local stores. Clearly, online shopping is the focus of the site—and the online shopping is very good.
Special Note: Once you register on OneCause you will receive news and promotions from the site regarding various shopping opportunities and the companies that are providing these opportunities. As with all general advertising these announcements may include products or companies which do not represent Catholic values. But when you shop on OneCause with CatholicCulture.org as your designated cause, you will obviously shop only with the merchants you choose; also, be assured that the donations these merchants make on your behalf go exclusively to CatholicCulture.org, and do not provide support to any other cause.
