Top Malaysian court confirms Catholic paper's right to use 'Allah'

December 31, 2009

Malaysia’s highest court has overturned a government edict forbidding the use of the term “Allah” in the country’s Catholic newspaper, The Herald. Catholic leaders had argued that the term “Allah” is the common translation for “God,” and has been used by Christians for generations. The court sided with the Church.

As long as the Christians there (or anywhere) don't confuse the two, the Malaysian court made the right decision.
