Teen vampire movie offers a 'moral vacuum,' says L'Osservatore review
November 20, 2009
A review in L'Osservatore Romano has panned the teen-oriented vampire movie New Moon, saying that the film offers "a moral vacuum more dangerous than its deviant message." The reviewer-- Msgr. Franco Perazzolo, an official of the Pontifical Council for Culture-- says that the movie, the latest in the Twilight Saga series, plays to the audience by using tricks, including the transformation of humans into werewolves and vampires. The depiction of attractive young people experiencing supernatural powers offers an "explosive mix" for impressionable young viewers, he says.
