Belarus: official classifies all Protestant faiths as sects

In Belarus, where strict laws regulate religious activity, officials in the capital city of Minsk have been imposing fines on Protestant communities for operating without proper approval. An official explained to the Forum 18 News Service that Protestants are not recognized among registered religious groups: "We have Orthodox, Catholics, and Muslims – these are the religions. All the others are sects."
