Pope recalls patronal feast of John Paul II
November 04, 2009
Pope Benedict XVI paid tribute to Pope John Paul II at his regular weekly public audience on November 4. Noting that the day was the feast of St. Charles Borromeo, the Pope recalled that his predecessor, Karol Wojtyla, was named for that saint. (Karol is a Polish form of Charles.) Speaking then of John Paul II, he said: "May the example of his life and his teaching confirm us in the faith and inspire us along the road to sanctity."
