Laicized Maryland priest arrested for abuse

October 13, 2009

A former priest of the Archdiocese of Baltimore has been arrested in North Carolina following accusations that he abused a teenage boy between 1977 and 1982. Michael Lowell Barnes, 64, left the priesthood in 1998 and until earlier this year served as director of adult faith formation at a parish in the Archdiocese of Washington.

    Uh, he left the priesthood in 1998 and until this year was director of adult faith formation in the Archdiocese of Washington? What am I missing here? Or what's Archbishop Wuerl missing?
