Romanian Catholics protest high-rise construction threatening Bucharest cathedral

Catholics in Bucharest, Romania have organized public protests against a court decision that gave the go-ahead for construction of a massive new office building adjacent to the city's Latin-rite cathedral of St. Joseph. Church officials have been engaged in a long legal dispute with real-estate developers, arguing that the new high-rise building will alter the architectural character of the neighborhood, dwarfing the cathedral, and possibly damaging its foundations as well.
