Connecticut diocese withdraws federal suit against state ethics panel

The Diocese of Bridgeport, Connecticut, has dropped a federal lawsuit against that state's ethics panel, after the attorney general of Connecticut ordered the panel not to pursue a demand for the diocese to register as a political lobby. The diocese had said the order was a violation of religious freedom.
