Catholic colleges found offering internships with groups promoting abortion, gay rights

June 16, 2009

Ten Catholic colleges and universities in the US arrange student internships with organizations that promote causes incompatible with Catholic moral teachings, the Cardinal Newman Society (CNS) has found.

The group found that schools including Boston College, Georgetown, DePaul, Loyola (Chicago), and Notre Dame promoted internships with groups advocating legal abortion, homosexual marriage, and other causes. The CNS report cites internships with Planned Parenthood, the Feminist Majority Foundation, National Organization for Women, Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, the Chicago Abortion Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice Texas, California Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League, and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force

“This discovery validates the concerns of so many thousands of faithful Catholic parents and students, that public scandals at Catholic colleges are just the tip of the iceberg,” said CNS president Patrick Reilly.
