Egypt: Coptic teacher given three-year jail term for students' video mocking Islamic State

February 01, 2016

A Coptic schoolteacher in Egypt has been sentenced to a three-year prison term for insulting Islam, after his students filmed a video mocking the Islamic State, the Fides news service reports.

Using a mobile phone, four students at a school in the town of Beni Mazar filmed a skit in which a Muslim was depicted being executed while at prayer. The video-- a satire of the executions of Christians by the Islamic State-- provoked an uproar, and local authorities arrested the students and fined their families. The teacher, held responsible for his students' project, has now been sentenced to jail.

One can just imagine how the "religion of peace" would react with ire if a video asserted that one Muslim could in real life kill another. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? "Peace be unto you." "Allah be praised." "Seventy two virgins."
