Egyptian leader denounces Islamic extremism
August 24, 2015
Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab denounced violent extremism during a recent conference attended by the nation’s religious leaders.
“The whole world faces an unprecedented state of chaos due to the presence of fundamentalist groups, as many civilians had their dignity violated,” he said. “Egypt is determined to fight extremism, and made many efforts to counter it, with the help of its religious institutions.”
Mahlab praised the conference’s organizers for their devotion to the “rightful face of Islam, and helping Muslims to counter danger [in] seeking fundamentalist ideas.”
