Cardinal highlights ecumenical dimension of new day of prayer for creation
August 13, 2015
In an interview with Vatican Radio, the president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace emphasized the ecumenical nature of Pope Francis’s decision to institute a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on September 1.
Recalling that September 1 is also the Orthodox Christian day of prayer for creation, Cardinal Peter Turkson said that “there is a desire on the part of the Holy Father to have a convergence of certain gestures by certain religious leaders, especially when we are so close, and so related.”
