Pope meets with Canada’s prime minister, discusses religious freedom

Pope Francis received Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in audience on June 11.
According to the Holy See Press Office, the two discussed “Canada’s commitment to defend and promote religious freedom in the context of fundamental human rights,” as well as the Middle East, terrorism, and the environment.
“During the course of the cordial discussions, the good relations existing between the Holy See and Canada were noted, as was the positive spirit of cooperation and dialogue between the Canadian federal government and the Church,” the press office added.
