Ukrainian Catholic leader issues Holy Thursday letter to priests

April 06, 2015

The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the largest of the Eastern Catholic churches in full communion with the Holy See, issued a Holy Thursday letter to priests.

“On this day, as we hold the precious Body of our Lord in our hands, and as we share in His Precious Blood spilled in sacrifice for us, let us pray, deeply and sincerely, for our own priestly ministry that we may fulfill it with holiness and a renewed sense of service,” said Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk.

“We are priests of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ,” he added. “There is no vocation more noble than ours, there is no responsibility more awesome than the one that has been given us.”
