September 23, 2014
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant has destroyed the Armenian Genocide memorial church in Deir ez-Zor, Syria’s 6th-largest city, according to Armenian media reports.
Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandyan called the act a “horrific barbarity.”
Ottoman Turkish officials forced many Armenians to march through the desert to Deir ez-Zor during the 1915 genocide.
