Papal prayers for airline crash victims in Ukraine

Catholic World News - July 18, 2014

Pope Francis is offering his prayers for the passengers of the Malaysian Airlines plane that was shot down over Ukraine, and for their families, the Vatican has announced.

Without commenting on the conflicting reports about responsibility for the incident, but noting the "high tensions" in the region, the Vatican announcement added that the Pontiff "renews his heartfelt appeal to all parties in the conflict to seek peace and solutions through dialogue, in order to avoid further loss of innocent human lives."
