Orissa high court backs raped nun’s request on identifying assailant

The High Court of Orissa yesterday overturned a lower court ruling and ruled that a nun raped during the early days of anti-Christian violence need not return to the eastern Indian state to identify her attackers. More than 60 Christians were killed and 50,000 left homeless in the seven weeks following the murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in August, for which Maoists repeatedly claimed responsibility.
