Virginia academy renounces Catholic identity

Notre Dame Academy in Middleburg, VA, has abandoned its Catholic identity rather than comply with Arlington Bishop Paul Loverde’s requirement that principals of Catholic schools be Catholic. Only one of the 12 board members of the school, formerly run by nuns but now controlled by an independent board of trustees, is Catholic.
