India: Court criticizes irregularities in investigation of priests, nun
November 26, 2008
The Kerala High Court ruled on Monday that investigators failed ‘to disclose the grounds for the arrest’ of two priests and a nun arrested in connection with a 1992 murder of a nun. The court ruled that India’s Central Bureau of Investigation must produce the evidence today. Investigators also questioned retired Archbishop Mathew Moolekkatt of Kottayam, and the police officer who investigated the case in the 17 days following the 1992 murder died in an apparent suicide yesterday.
