Indian nun testifies in rape case; will not return to Orissa for prosecution

An Indian nun who was raped by members of a Hindu mob in the state of Orissa in August has given a deposition to investigators, but refused to return to Orissa to identify her assailants in a police line-up. Sister Meena Barwa has said that she fears for her safety and does not have confidence in the police of Orissa; she testified that police refused to protect her from the mob and instead sought to cover up the crime.
