PASSIONS
Human emotions insofar as they are inordinate in purpose, intensity or duration. They are feelings somehow out of control, and involve a notable change in a person's bodily functions or activity. Less accurately, the passions are sometimes identified with any intense movement of the sensitive appetite, e.g., sex, anger, or hunger, accompanied by some organic change.
