ANTIPOLO (shrine)
Church of Our Lady near Manila, Philippines, dating from 1632. It is the national shrine of the island group, and hundreds of pilgrims come here to at homage to Mary every day. The little wooden statue of the Virgin stands atop a beautiful at shrine. It is not unusual to see twenty thousand worshipers on a feast day, while a hundred thousand may attend the May crowning that follows a candlelight procession in that month each year.
