Catholic-Jewish dialogue strengthens both religions, Pope says

October 30, 2008

Meeting on October 30 with members of the International Jewish Committee on Inter-religious Consultation, Pope Benedict XVI commended the "regular and fruitful contacts which have contributed to greater understanding and acceptance between Catholics and Jews." Christians are "increasingly conscious of the spiritual patrimony they share with the people of the Torah,," the Pope said, and "sincere dialogue needs both openness and a firm sense of identity on both sides."
