Booklet sold at rebellious Brisbane parish denies Christ's divinity
October 29, 2008
The controversy surrounding St. Mary's parish in South Brisbane, Australia, has increased, with the circulation of a booklet in which a Catholic priest flatly denies that Jesus is God. The openly heretical booklet is being offered to parishioners at a church that has already been threatened with closure. Archbishop John Bathersby of Brisbane said in August that St. Mary's parish has in effect "established its own brand of religion," which may not be classifiable as Catholic. The renegade parish continues to indulge a variety of illicit practices, such as having women lead the Eucharistic liturgy.
