Bishop Braxton asked to drop state supreme court appeal of abuse case

An alleged victim of clerical sexual abuse has hand-delivered a letter to Bishop Edward Braxton’s secretary in which David Clohessy, national director of Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, asked the Illinois bishop not to pursue a legal appeal. The man says he was abused in 1984 by Father Kenneth Roberts, author of the conversion story Playboy to Priest and at one time a popular Catholic speaker. Father Roberts was suspended by the Diocese of Dallas in 1998 following abuse allegations there.
