Renewed attacks on Christians in Orissa
June 14, 2010
Hindu fundamentalists in Orissa attacked a convert to Christianity on June 7 and three Protestant pastors on June 9. “We cannot even have prayers, gatherings and meals together,” said Father Alphonse Toppo, vicar general of the Diocese of Sambalpur. “The attackers must be taken to task.”
Attacks on Christians in the eastern Indian state in 2008 left at least 60 Christians dead and over 50,000 homeless.
