New Ukrainian Orthodox leader breaks with old Patriarch, moves closer to Catholics

CWN Editor's Note: Patriarch Kirill, the Ukrainian Orthodox prelate who broke with Moscow in the 1990s, has now also broken with Patriarch Epifanyi, the leader of the newly autonomous Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Meanwhile Patriarch Epifanyi has moved closer to the (Byzantine-rite) Ukrainian Orthodox Church, saying that “it is even ultimately possible to reach union.”
