Cardinal Roberto Tucci has been named a Commander of Arts and Letters by the government of France, in recognition for his longtime work as "advance man" for papal foreign travel. The Jesuit prelate, now retired, organized most of the trips by Pope John Paul II. He is also a former director of Vatican Radio.
