Deputy director of Vatican bank ousted

November 30, 2017

» Continue to this story on ANSA

CWN Editor's Note: Giulio Mattietti, the deputy director of the Vatican bank, the Institute for Religious Works (IOR), has been abruptly removed. The ANSA news service reports that Mattietti was escorted from his office on November 27; the Vatican press office has confirmed that he “ceased his service.” No explanation for the move has been given.
The IOR has experienced a series of management changes in the past few years, as the Vatican struggles to implement reforms. Last year a former director-general of the IOR, Paolo Cipriani, was convicted of violating Italian banking regulations.

The above note supplements, highlights, or corrects details in the original source (link above). About CWN news coverage.
