Mexican bishops undaunted by drug cartel’s threats

June 05, 2009

The Archdiocese of Mexico City has revealed that some bishops have been threatened by the drug cartel La Familia and added that the nation’s bishops are undaunted by these threats.

An editorial in the archdiocesan weekly also criticized government, police, and business leaders who have caved in to threats. “This entire history has its turbulent beginnings in the years in which those in the highest level of political power not only allowed criminals to act but actually allied themselves with them,” according to the editorial.
