Detroit archdiocese asks forgiveness in Mass of Pardon

October 12, 2016

The Archdiocese of Detroit scheduled a special Mass on October 7, asking God’s pardon for sins and failures, as an important element of observing the Year of Mercy.

“We’re repenting so that we can receive the Good News and share the Good News,” said Archbishop Allen Vigneron in his homily at the Mass of Pardon. He explained that asking for God’s mercy is the indispensable first step toward receiving that mercy.

“That’s what pardon is in the Kingdom of God,” the archbishop said. “It’s not about forgetting, it’s about transformation.”
