Indian Catholic bishop will donate kidney to Hindu

Bishop Jacob Muricken, an auxiliary of the Diocese of Palai, has volunteered to donate a kidney to a Hindu man.

The recipient of the organ, E. Sooraj, suffered kidney failure two years ago, and has battling to combine regular dialysis treatments with work to support his struggling family.
"It’s in the spirit of the Church," the bishop said. "I believe this should be a strong message for people around me, to be open to donate organs.”
