Theme announced for 2018 World Meeting of Families

May 24, 2016

“The Gospel of family, joy for the world” is the theme of the 9th World Meeting of Families, which is scheduled to take place in Dublin in August 2018.

“Hopefully it will be an important milestone in the application of the fruits of the synodal process and of the apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia,” Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin said at a May 24 Vatican press conference.

“The Church’s catechetical programs regarding marriage and the family need a complete overhaul in line with what Amoris Laetitia sets out,” he added. “The Dublin Meeting, thus, will be prepared for by a process of catechesis-- based on the apostolic exhortation-- which will take place right across the Church in Ireland during 2017.”
