Patriarch rues confiscation of Iraqi Christians’ property

April 19, 2016

The Chaldean Catholic patriarchate has established a committee to monitor the legality of property transfers involving Baghdad’s Christians.

In the years following the 2003 US invasion, corrupt officials have unjustly deprived some Christians of their property, the Fides news agency reported.

Patriarch Louis Raphael I Sako also called upon Iraqi officials to ensure that Christians’ property rights will be respected when they return to areas liberated from the control of the Islamic State.
