Cardinal Sarah: no forgiveness without repentance
April 06, 2016
In a new interview, Cardinal Robert Sarah insists that "there is no forgiveness if there is no repentance."
In an exchange with a Polish journalist, which appears in an English translation on the Rorate Caeli web site, Cardinal Sarah remarks that when he met with the woman caught in adultery, Jesus told her: "Go and sin no more." The cardinal added: "Only if we understand this can we fully enjoy the fruits that the Jubilee of Mercy offers us."
Cardinal Sarah, the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, also spoke in the interview about the "most dangerous" error of thinking that "just being good" is all that can be expected, and sufficient to ensure salvation.
