Pakistan: Christian activist wounded in 'intimidation' shooting

November 13, 2015

A Christian activist was shot in the legs in Lahore, Pakistan, in what a Christian lawyer described as "a clear sign of intimidation toward our work."

Aslam Masih, a volunteer coordinator of Legal Evangelical Association Development (LEAD), a group that provides legal help to Christians in need, was confronted by a small group of Muslims who demanded that he withdraw a complaint that had been lodged with police. When he refused, they shot and wounded him.

The shooting occurred on October 28, but LEAD withheld public notice for security reasons. Another LEAD worker was shot and wounded several months earlier.
