Chile: Pope criticized for defending bishop
October 09, 2015
Pope Francis’s defense of the appointment of Bishop Juan Barros of Osorno, Chile, has angered the bishop’s opponents, who have been holding regular protests.
Bishop Barros has been accused of covering up abuse committed by Father Fernando Karadima, a prominent Chilean priest.
“The vision of a pope closer to abuse victims has been unmasked,” one of Karadima’s victims said, according to a New York Times report.
