UK’s chief rabbi meets with Pope

Pope Francis met on September 3 with Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mervis, who leads the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth.
The chief rabbi, who was accompanied by Cardinal Vincent Nichols of Westminster, told Vatican Radio that he expressed British Jews’ “admiration for [Pope Francis] as a truly outstanding and inspirational spiritual leader.”
