The Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis is hoping to enlist a leading criminal lawyer to handle the response to criminal charges lodged against the archdiocese for failing to report sex-abuse complaints.
Joseph Dixon III, a former federal prosecutor, has offered a “substantial discount” for his work on the case, in light of the difficulties already facing the archdiocese, which is in federal bankruptcy court.
Archbishop John Nienstedt resigned from his post as leader of the Minnesota archdiocese earlier this week, along with an auxiliary, Bishop Lee Piché.
