Papal condolences for victims of flooding in Chile, Peru

March 30, 2015

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, has sent a telegram of condolence in the Holy Father’s name following severe flooding in the Atacama Desert.

“The Holy Father is offering prayers for the eternal rest of the deceased and calls for the Lord to grant consolation and strength to those affected by this disaster,” Cardinal Parolin stated.

“The Holy Father furthermore exhorts all institutions and all people of good will, motivated by sentiments of fraternal solidarity and Christian charity, to provide assistance in order to overcome these difficult times,” he added.
