Vatican initiative encourages Confession, making priests available in churches on March 13

February 20, 2015

The Vatican has announced plans for a worldwide initiative to encourage Catholics toward sacramental Confession and Eucharistic adoration.

Pope Francis will lead the initiative, entitled “24 Hours for the Lord,” with a March 13 penitential service at St. Peter’s basilica. In the following 24 hours, churches throughout Rome will host Eucharistic adoration and make priests available for confessions.

The “24 Hours for the Lord” initiative is a project of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization. The Vatican has encouraged dioceses and parishes throughout the world to join in the effort.
