Cardinal DiNardo foresees no change on Communion for divorce-remarried Catholics

February 16, 2015

The vice-president of the US bishops’ conference doubts that the Synod of Bishops will approve a change in the Church’s rule that bars divorced-and-remarried Catholics from receiving the Eucharist.

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Houston, who will be one of the American bishops taking part in the October 2015 meeting of the Synod, told the Crux news site that he is not “persuaded” by the arguments for a change. “I don’t get it,” he said, telling Crux that he would vote against a change today.
