Pope Francis 'likely' to visit DC, New York on 2015 trip
January 06, 2015
Pope Francis is likely to add New York and Washington, DC to his itinerary when he visits the US in September, according to the Vatican’s Secretary of State.
The Pope has already announced his plan to attend the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. Cardinal Pietro Parolin told reporters that the Pope, would probably extend his trip to include stops in Washington and New York. His visit to New York could include an address at the United Nations, he said.
Cardinal Parolin cautioned that he was offering his own personal predictions, and that no official decision had been reached about extending the papal trip.
The Secretary of State spoke to reporters on January 6 during a visit to the North American College, where he joined other prelates in dedicating a new wing to the building.
