Court rules against Indiana diocese in IVF-dismissal case

Following a ruling from a federal appellate court, a lawsuit brought by a former teacher against an Indiana diocese will go to trial.
The Diocese of Fort Wayne – South Bend did not renew Emily Herx’s teaching contract after her use of in vitro fertilization came to light. Herx contends she is the victim of sex discrimination, and a lower federal court “found the teachings of the Church regarding in vitro fertilization were not gender-neutral,” the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette reported.
